In an effort to inprove pedestrian visibility, the City of Charleston's Department of Traffic and Transportation has installed pedestrian flags to be used in conjunction with the crosswalks at the intersection of Calhoun Street and Courtenay Drive.In an effort to inprove pedestrian visibility, the City of Charleston's Department of Traffic and Transportation has installed pedestrian flags to be used in conjunction with the crosswalks at the intersection of Calhoun Street and Courtenay Drive. By carrying the large orange flags as they cross, pedestrians will be more noticable to drivers moving through this busy intersection. Used in other cities with great success, the Pedestrian Flags have been adopted as a part of the City of Charleston's Pedestrian Safety Program.
