The Safety Management Division plans, directs and implements organization safety programs to ensure safe, healthy and accident-free work environments. Additionally, Safety Management administers and monitors the workers’ compensation program on a daily basis. Safety Management plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local and state Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations and ensures that all City facilities are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Safety Management conducts site inspections and evaluations, makes safety recommendations, provides safety equipment and tips to employees and management; conducts training on the proper use, wear, and operation of equipment and apparatus including, but not limited to: ergonomics, forklift operation, first aid and CPR, and fire extinguisher usage. Additionally, Safety Management, working with Human Resources, develops City wellness programs stressing health, preventive medicine, and self awareness, plans, organizes and directs health education programs for City employees, prepares and disseminates educational and informational materials, and promotes health discussions and awareness throughout the City’s operations.
