Lifeguard Training
The two week classes are held the first Monday, Wednesday & Saturday of February, March, April, May, & October 2010 at W.L. Stephens Aquatic Center. Candidates must be in good physical condition, and a strong swimmer. Lifeguarding course pre-requisites: Min 15 years of age; be able to swim to & retrieve a 10 lb object from at least 9 ft deep water and return swim 20 yards to shallow water; and be able to swim 300 meters non-stop. Course includes CPR-PR and First Aid certifications. Junior Lifeguard: call for more information 843-795-5756 ext. 18. $90 city; $110 non-city; Challenge the course $45; CPR-PR only $55.

****The pools will be closed for Holiday Observances
·We use a 10-1 student ratio. Class availability depends on the number of instructors available.
·Proper swim attire is required! NO long pants, boxers, or socks are allowed in the pool.
·Violators of the rules will be asked to leave the pool without a refund.
·We only accept cash payment for daily pool usage. For class and program fees over $5, we only accept money orders and checks.

Water Fitness Classes
Water is an ideal medium in which participants can perform exercises because it promotes buoyancy and provides resistance. These
exercises are designed to improve flexibility, muscle tone, and overall fitness. Non-swimmers are
welcome as class is done in waist
to chest deep water.
Fee: $2 Sr. (55 and up), $3 Adults
WL Stephens Mondays 7:30-8:15pm
MLK Jr. Pool Tuesdays 3-4:30pm

Arthritis Aquatics Fitness Program
A recreational program of exercise for individuals with arthritis and other similar
conditions. Through group
activity in a supportive atmosphere many people find relief from pain, stress and isolation. Fee: $1/class or
$45/6 weeks. MLK Jr. Pool Tuesdays 9am

SCUBA
The WLS & MLK pools host local dive shops for SCUBA instruction.
Please call Charleston SCUBA 763-3483 or your favorite dive shop for more
information.
